Cosima Lange was born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1976. Being a member of the children’s choir of Hamburg State Opera, she was introduced to the variety of different cultures through many concert tours throughout her childhood, including Japan, Russia, USA and many European countries. It was through these travels that she eventually formed the idea to start career in films. The main focus was “Creative Producing”. During this time she produced various shortfilms, and in 2003 was awarded her degree with romantic-science-fiction-thriller VAKUUM, 70 mins. (production and script), one of the biggest student production of all times. It had great success at international filmfestivals and was shown on German televsion channels.
In 2005 Cosima Lange founded “fliegende fische film” together with Nina Klingen (in 2009 changed to "fliegende fische creative pool"). Since then she develops her own projects as script writer, director, and producer. CHAMAMÉ (2005), a film about four Argentinian musicians, was her first full-length feature documentary both as a script writer and director. The film was shown successfully in various film festivals around the world and screened in cinemas. Simultaneously with the film, the music-video MI PUEBLO, LA CASA, LA SOLEDAD was shot with Accordion player Chango Spasiuk (winner of "Best Newcomer 2005" by the "BBC Award for Worldmusic").
